Make A Card Monday #2 and a Pinterest Challenge

Good Morning Friends, Happy Monday!

I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful weekend. We stayed pretty low key here. Yesterday, it was too nice to be in the house so I took the kids to a nearby park in our town and we walked some of the trails. On Saturday we finished up some school supply shopping.  We're only about two weeks away from the first day of the new school year.  It seems to start so much earlier than when I was a kid in school.  Do your kids start back soon too?

So...on to today's project.  Have you all heard of the Pinterest Challenge?  I came across this idea a few weeks ago.  You count your boards and pick a number from 1 - however many boards you have.  Then you pick a number from 1 - however many pins are in that board.  Then whatever pin that is - you make it.  It's a great way to actually do some of those many pins you have!  I, for one, have far too many pins that I would like to admit too.

What I did with this particular challenge was count my crafting boards only and had my son pick a number.  He chose 12 which brought me to my Card Sketch Inspiration board. He then chose 18 for the pin number, which brought me to this sketch from Pagemaps

And here is what I came up with:

I used Olive CTMH cardstock (retired long ago)  The pattern papers are from My Minds Eye

I got these in a paper deal I had purchased on PeachyCheap long ago.  If you haven't heard of them, check it out.  They offer one deal a day, usually at a huge discount.

I used my CTMH scallop border bunch on the bottom layer. I used Anna Griffin's Rosa embossing border with my Cuttlebug on white daisy card stock for the top and lightly inked over it using CTMH Barn Red ink (retired) and a sponge dauber.  The butterfly was cut from the Cricut cartridge Tie The Knot.  I used the lighter green MME paper to cut the butterfly and then just used my Clay Shin Han marker to make the center darker.  The sentiment was stamped in Olive ink using the Have a Happy Day stamp set (also retired)

I hope you all have a wonderful week!  I'll be back on Wednesday with another 3-D project that I am absolutely in love with!  Hugs ~ Dawn

Thanks a Melon!

Welcome Friends!  While I was pondering what to make my Friday blog - which I still don't have a 'theme' for so I'm leaving it open for now - I came across a sketch challenge blog.  I used to love to follow Mojo Mondays but since they closed I've been looking for another good one.  I came across the Atlantic Hearts Challenge blog.

They post a new sketch every Monday - Here is this weeks:

This sketch and a paper pack I dug out of my craft room was my inspiration for today's card project.  The paper is called Melon Patch and was a Hot Buy at Michaels.  I think I've had it for a few months at least and I've never used it.

Isn't it so super cute!  I love those hot buy paper stacks!
And here's my card

The stamp is an oldie but goodie from Joy's Life called Yummy Pun Stamps.  Sentiment was stamped in Pomegranate ink from CTMH.  The pink enamel gems are also from CTMH.
The watermelon cuts are from the Cricut cartridge called Preserves - which is included in Cricut Access, #M45FBC.

I had some scraps so I added them to the inside of the card.

I hope you enjoy today's card project!  I'm linking up to Atlantic Hearts Challenge.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  See you Monday!
Hugs ~ Dawn

3-D Wednesday #1

Welcome friends! I'm so glad you are here! Today is the first 3-D Wednesday!

I love making boxes and treat holders and other 3-D items.  It's probably what I like to make the most!  I think it just makes a gift that much better when you not only have an amazing card you've made but also have a cute or beautiful package to put it in.  I made a pretty gift box today.

I've been looking through some of my older cartridges I haven't used for a long time.  I forgot how many hidden gems are on some of these.  This hexagon box came from the Garden Soup cartridge.

The flower on top was cut using Plantin Schoolbook in two shades of purple.  I inked the edges, curled the petals and added a brad to the center to hold it all together.  Everything I used came from my craft room.  Some things, like brads, I haven't used in years!

Box is approx 2 1/4" tall and 3 1/4" wide - nice size!

I find the most difficult thing in using old cartridges with design space is locating the items you find in the handbooks.  I realize most people probably don't even look at the handbooks anymore but I find it brings inspiration.  If you would like to make a box like this search for 'planter' within the Garden Soup cartridge.  It is the one that is all one cut and has a lid with a flap attached, shown below.

I hope you enjoyed my project today.  I'm still not sure what Friday's will be so stop on back for a surprise!   Hugs ~ Dawn

Make A Card Monday #1

Welcome friends!  I'm so glad you are here!  Today is the first Make-A-Card-Monday!

I figured I should probably set a schedule for myself so I'm not all over the place. So far I will be here on Mondays with Make a Card and Wednesdays for 3-D Wednesdays.  I'll be here on Friday also but not sure what to make for Fridays - any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!  I am thinking maybe Scrapbook Fridays???  Anyhow...on to today's card!

I used Cricut Artbooking from Close To My Heart to make the sunburst background. I pulled some bright, cheerful and sunny papers from my stash.  I also shopped through my stamps to find a sentiment that would fit in my sun.  This one is called Bitty Birthday from Close to My Heart - I do not know if it is available for purchase.  I really am enjoying the challenge of shopping my stash and using what I have!

I hope you all have a WONDERFUL week and I will see you back here on Wednesday with a 3-D project!

Hugs ~ Dawn

August Card Buffet

Join me for a Card Buffet!

Enjoy the freedom of choosing the cards you want to make in the quantity that suits your needs.

There are 8 different card designs to choose from.

The cost is $20 for the minimum 8 cards.  This price includes all pre-cut cardstock and/or paper and embellishments and an envelope for each card you create.  Plus you will have the use of my tools, stamps and inks required to make each card.  You will only need to bring scissors and your own adhesive of choice (I will have some to purchase if needed).

If you choose to make more, then you only pay $2.50 for each additional card.

Feel free to choose multiples of the same card.

August Card Buffet is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 17th. This will be an event that will be held the 3rd Thursday of each month. Currently it is held in my home - if it continues to grow larger I will be looking into some other spaces to hold it.

This is also open to those who aren't local or for some reason can't make it.  The cost will be $25.00 (includes shipping) and you will receive one of each card design (unless otherwise specified) and the only difference is that they will be pre-stamped also at this time.  You will only need adhesive to put them together.

Here is the link to pay if you would like a kit shipped:

Send me an email at dawnscraftcottage@gmail.com with the subject line Aug Card Buffet with your card choices and the name and address where it should be sent. The card packages will be mailed on Friday August 18.

Currently I am not a distributor for any stamping company.  You may notice a lot of retired product for a particular company that I used to be a demonstrator for.  I am in the process of clearing out my craft room and using what I have so I can make room for new in the near future. *This is not to say that I won't be joining a stamping company in the future :)

The 8 cards being offered in August are:

Thanks for joining me today!
